Rise and Shout...

The Cougars are out! I grew up as a huge BYU Cougar fan. My dad and my grandpa's were all big into watching the Cougars play. I can remember going to a bunch of basketball games all throughout my youth. My dad and brother had a yearly tradition of going to the football games together. This is the 3rd football season that my dad has not been around. Since my dad passing away I made it a goal to go with my brother and make it a tradition. We went together the year my dad passed away. Last year my brother and his friend ended up getting season tickets clear across the stadium from Whitney and me and this year he decided not to get them. Even though he decided not to go I decided that I still need to go in memory of my dad. Whitney and I ended up getting all sport passes with our neighbors that live across the street. Here are some of the many pictures I took while at the first game... Can anyone guess the name and jersey number of the player who happens to be my favorite?

Happy Anniversary!!!

Today I celebrated the two year anniversary of my divorce! I figure that there is no better way to celebrate than going to a concert with my family. We ended up going to the Boyz II Men concert at the SCERA Shell. The really funny thing is that I grew up knowing who they were but Sean really loved them and he got me listening to them and loving them. It was really cool to see them live in concert!

My New Obsession...

The Notebook

At the beginning of the week I was watching ABC Family and a commercial came on advertising the movie The Notebook. I hadn't seen the movie in ages and so I made a mental note to remember to watch the movie on Saturday (Aug 16th) night. I loved how in the advertisement it showed the scene on the ferris wheel. I think it is one of the best scenes from the movie. After seeing the advertisement a ton of times, Whits and I decided that we couldn't wait for the movie to be on the Family Channel and so on Wednesday night we popped the dvd in and began watching it. My all time favorite scene in the whole movie happens towards the very end of it and I really wanted to see it.... I ended up falling asleep moments before it came on and woke up right as it was ending. I was a bit disappointed but decided that I would end up seeing it anyway on Saturday.

On Thursday, right before heading off to work I stopped off at Barnes and Noble and picked up a copy of Nicholas Spark's book (which the movie is based off of). I ended up having a very interesting experience while waiting in line to purchase the book. There was a big guy in back of me, which I found out is named Joel. He began trying to pick up on me, which scared me even more. He asked me what books I was getting and I told him I was getting The Notebook. He told me that he didn't care for romances. He is a science fiction fan. He then asked what my name was and I told him that my name is Jaime. He then told me that Jaime is one of his favorite names. He then asked where I was from. I told him Provo and he informed me that he was born in Provo. He followed that up by asking if I was going to school. I told him that I was getting ready to go back to school at UVU. He asked what I was majoring in and I told him Elementary Education. He told me that I looked like I would be an amazing teacher. By this time I was finally at the front of the line and gladly left him standing in line to purchase my books. On my way out he told me that he was glad to meet me. I smiled and left as fast as I could.

After getting home from work I went up to my room and began reading the book. I am the type of person who loves the books I read better than the movies based off of the books. However, I think I like this movie slightly more than I liked the book. I would still recommend the book to anyone who is looking for a tear jerking romance. I ended up crying more in the book than I do in the movie. There were many quotes that I found in the book that I love... I have included them and my favorite movie quotes below.

Favorite Quotes from the Book:

- I am nothing special; of this I am sure. I am a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedica
ted to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I have loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough. (pg 2)

- You may call me a dreamer or fool or any other thing, I believe that anything is possible. (pg 5)

For me, love like that happened only once and thats why every minute we spent together has been seared in my memory. I'll never forget a single moment of it. (pg 102)

- Follow your heart (pg 137)

- I want two things. First I want you. I want us. I love you and I always have. But I also want a happy ending without hurting anyone. And I know if I stayed, people would be hurt. (pg 140)

(pg 171)

Favorite Quotes from the Movie:

- I am no one special, just a common man with common thoughts. I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect, I've succeeded as gloriously as anyone who ever lived. I've loved another with all my heart and soul and for me, that has always been enough (Noah)

- Noah: I'm gonna ask you one more time, will you or will you not go out with me? I think my hands slipping (As he is hanging on a bar at the top of the ferris wheel)
Allie: Okay, okay. Fine I'll go out with you.
Noah: No, don't do me any favors.
Allie: No, no I want to
Noah: Say it
Allie: I wanna go out with you
Noah: Say it again
Allie: I WANNA GO OUT WITH YOU!
Noah: All right, all right we'll go out.

- When I see something I like, I gotta... I love it (Noah)

-Noah: I'm not usually like this, I'm sorry.
Allie: Oh yes you are
Noah: I could be fun, if you want. I could be pensive, uhh... smart, superstitious, brave? And I, can be light on my feet. I could be whatever you want and I'm gonna be that for you.
Allie: You're dumb
Noah: I can be that. Come on, one date, whats it gonna hurt?
Allie: Mmm, I don't think so
Noah: Well what can I do to change your mind?
Allie: I'm sure you'll find a way.

- You don't know me, but I know me. (Noah)

- They didn't agree on much. In fact they rarely agreed on anything. They fought all the time and they challenged each other everyday... but in spite their differences, they had one important thing in common, they were crazy about each other.

- It was a improbable romance. He was a country boy. She was from the city. She had the world at her feet while he didn't have two dimes to rub together.

-If you're a bird, then I'm a bird. (Noah)

- He got the notion into his head that if he restored the old house where they had come that night, Allie would find a way back to him. Some called it a labor of love. Others called it something else. But in fact, Noah had gone a little mad.

- Allie: Why didn't you write me? Why? It wasn't over for me, I waited for you for seven years. But now it's too late.
Noah: I wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you everyday for a year.
Allie: You wrote me?
Noah: Yes, it wasn't over, it still isn't over. (Kisses Allie)

- Noah: Would you just stay with me?
Allie: Stay with you? What for? Look at us, we're already fighting.
Noah: Well that's what we do, we fight... You tell me when I am being an arrogant son of a bitch and I tell you when you are a pain in the ass. Which you are, 99% of the time. I'm not afraid to hurt your feelings. You have a two second rebound rate, then you're back doing the next pain in the ass thing.
Allie: So what?
Noah: So its not going to be easy. Its gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, everyday.

-Would you stop thinking about what everyone wants? Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do YOU want? What do you WANT? (Noah)

- The way I see it, I got three choices. One I can shoot him. Two, I can kick the crap out of him. Or three, I can leave you. Well all that's no good. You see cause none of those options get me you. (Lon)

-Do you think our love can make miracles? (Allie)

- I think our love can do anything we want it to. (Noah)

An Afternoon at Monte Bean Museum

For those of you who don't know... my nephew absolutely loves animals. He will walk all over the house saying "Bob" (my sisters cat) and looking for the cat. This week we get the kids for the whole week and have big plans to do all kinds of fun things with them. We were planning on taking them to the zoo but ended up having car problems and so we decided to stay in town and take the kids up to the Bean Museum. Here are the pictures of our special trip...

After getting done with the museum we took the kids to the duck pond... I love the baby ducks! Aren't they so cute?
